one day

one day i shall

leave all this

the kitchen

and the rivers

the room of

the heart

with its

bright rain

earthquakes

sky of a sun

under blue

one day

i shall be lost

amongst the

rains the

cold from

the clouds

shall be broken

through with

the wind

like

a

sheet of

newspaper

driven onto

a winter

branch

a

dry blown

leaf under

the shoe of

evening breaking

into the stories

of its childhood

in final telling

apart apart

a

wave

come to its

shore gone

out down

between the

grains of

glass and sand

pulled back

into the

leaving

tide

a

new

moon

with its

spill of

dusk

touching on

the westerly

hedge sinking

down amongst

twig

leaf and

nest

a

word

put away

years a

grammar

out of date

used in an

old room

where the

poems had

walking sticks

sipped tea

from

clanking

cups

i

could go

on in this

style

of

curtains

glass panes

looking out

to a field

of frost

all night

yet

desist

one day i shall

leave all this

the kitchen

and the rivers

Caro Marco, mille grazie.  To me this shows the influence di lavori di Prisco e Curtin.  For brevity and language freshness you two stand a twin peak to aim at :-)

I thought 'i could go/on in this/style' but in fact the muse closed her mouth at that point (annoyed with my 'hubris', no doubt)

This is better than i can say. Just read it twice now. Seems flawless to me. I love the moon with its spill of dusk, and the stanza that ends with the clanking cups. But all of it: one day all the way to the rivers.

"i

could go

on in this

style" ?

Yes, do that.

Thanks fellow poets.  I can only say that, as you probably feel, when someone likes something you've done, you feel it's all worthwhile, however hard it is to make the time in your own life to write.  I enjoy both your work, so it's all the better hearing from you.

if only there was a 'like' button here--I have no constructive criticism I just like your stuff. If only there was a 'good shit' button
