Melancholy in D major
Rolling hills out beyond
- a whimsical vista
wind tickling
like piano keys
the leaves of trees
competing with
birds trilling
one against the other
octave and pitch perfect
forcing the ear of the air
to be borne far away
all but breaking
the pregnant silence
surrounding me
ensuring the whip hand
of melancholy broken
by sheer wondrous…
